We are Infinite

Wondering what this is all about? Well, Don’t. This is the tagline of a movie and of a good one too. I am just done watching ‘The Perks of being a wallflower’, a romantic drama weaved around some high school teens trying to sort out their mess; trying to figure out a way. And I must say it isn’t about getting a girl, finding place in some school team, giving in to crazy hormones or another American Pie kind of run-of-the-mill production. It would be unfair to even compare. I was starkly reminded of the likes of Dead Poet’s Society and Good will hunting. Now you can understand where I am putting this one. And if you see it, you will realize why it deserves a place among the classics.

The movie revolves around the life of an introvert freshman who finds it extremely hard to make friends. Like all of us, he has his own mess to deal with. He counts the day he will have to spend in high school. He eats his lunch alone because he cannot find anyone who would like to be with him. He feels like a lost cause, carrying the burden of his past all around. But there is always light at the end of tunnel. And for this young man, it comes in the form of two seniors who are ready to accept him for who he is and make him a part of their world. There is nothing like acceptance and finding people who are as crazy as we feel we are. Our protagonist feels the same way.

But, what is life if not a big irony, a big mash-up where everybody is trying to figure out something or move away from something instead of moving towards something. As ‘The perks of being a Wallflower’ unfolds, it probes the deepest of human emotions, joys, fears and the games that our mind plays with us. It tells us how important it is to have a good teacher; to feel moments filled with life; to embrace our past for what it is; to share our insanity with great friends and to feel worthy of love. And also; not all of those high school seniors are bullies. Well, things might not work out as we planned. But our ability to let go and accept things as they are holds the key to what we do with our future. If you are one of those who believe that let the silence make the loudest of sounds, give this movie a go. I am sure you will not regret your choice. Subtle and yet so profound. This is what good cinema is all about.

Ship of Theseus – An intellectually stimulating ride

Those of you who know me well will also know that Bollywood and I are not the best of buddies. Well, we have had our differences. I have always complained that Bollywood does not provide enough movies that compel one to think; that compel one to use the grey matter. Bollywood, on the other hand, has tried to prove me wrong once a while. But the attempts have been lacking in number. Though, I should not entirely blame it on Bollywood. In the end, we usually get served with what we demand. Any art is partly a reflection of the society that the artist lives in. Anyways, that is a discussion for some other day. This post is not about the ideological differences that I have with Bollywood. Instead, this is about a movie that might usher many new precedents in an Industry that badly needs a change. This post is about ‘Ship of Theseus’, a movie that challenges you and honors you for being there.

So many distinguished industry veterans, movie critics, international reporters have given their thumps up to the movie that words such as astounding, brilliant, breathtaking seem over used. I dare not go the same path. For a change, I will keep it absolutely short and simple. SOT won’t give you a sensuous dancing scene or an action filled car chase or a hot item number or the usual stuff. It isn’t designed to do so. Simply put, SOT isn’t an everyday project. It will not insult your intelligence. On the contrary, it will reward you if you are open to thinking about the ideas that it presents. Though one will have to be patient. SOT takes its own sweet time but the experience is surely rewarding. The richness of ideas presented is the highlight of the movie. I am sure that if I watch it again I will pick something new. And to me, that is a sign of a classic. There is a lot that deserves a mention here but I am choosing not to do so for two different reasons. One, I would prefer the viewer to form its own opinion on this piece of art. And second, there are certain interesting developments that compel me to write about them.

SOT has triggered a new phenomenon that might interest a lot of tech-savvy people out there. The use of Social media and Internet for movie promotion is not a new concept. But with SOT, UTV seems to have experimented something new. Realizing early that SOT is not a movie for the masses, UTV has tossed the ball to the viewers. Initially, they released it only in six cities and started an online petition on their Facebook page to bring it to other cities. Viewers can choose to vote if they want SOT to be screened in their city. This is helping UTV target the cities for subsequent screenings. UTV hopes to rope in more cities in next two weeks as more and more movie viewers get to know it by word of mouth publicity. Intelligently enough, UTV has minimized the use of mass media such as TV trailers and hoardings for promotions. Not only this, twitter is being aggressively used to reach out to more and more people. For the first time, I have seen an official movie account retweeting most of the common tweets about the movie to connect with movie viewing community. According to SOT maker Anand Gandhi, Internet holds the key for future of movie promotion. The way movie makers are using internet to reach out to their target audience without investing heavy bucks is exemplary. In a way, this augurs well for low budget movies that are not made for the masses and are denied production because of concerns on their commercial viability. It still needs to be seen that how much SOT will be able to impact the future of artistic cinema in India. But surely enough, it is a welcome development.

Well, that would be my two cents on an interesting and important project coming out of Bollywood. If you are one of those folks who likes to try something different, feel free to go online and vote for SOT in your city on UTV Facebook page. An intellectually stimulating journey of SOT won’t disappoint you.

Iron Man 3 – Fighting the demons within

Enjoying an eventful ride of Iron Man 3 was a good start to movie watching in Pune. The hopes were definitely high and I was glad not to feel disappointed. With Iron man 3 serving entertainment beyond action and witty one-liners, one could not help but appreciate the fact that, time and again, Hollywood respects its audience more than Bollywood does.

Yes, Iron Man 3 was not a Christopher-Nolan-intellectual-masterpiece. But the point is, it was never expected to be one. Even then, it does manage to fit in an idea into a thrilling piece of action entertainment. To me, that is something that gives the movie longevity; the reason for audience to appreciate it even when they are out of the cinema hall. That idea is like true love which is much more sustainable than an infatuated state of mind represented by action alone. Iron man 3, at its core, represents simple ideas such as ‘The biggest battles are raged within and it takes courage to do the right thing’, ‘Love is the most powerful weapon to fight insecurities and fear’ and ‘At times, we all need to take a break, relax and be the common man’. Ideas such as these always help in reducing the inherited disconnect that an overloaded Sci-Fi flick inevitably brings with it. One can always argue that bit and pieces of technology cannot match and are way beyond the realms of reality, but it gives me a satisfaction to know that the human part is not. The fact that superhero is not devoid of emotions such as fear, insecurity, love makes the whole deal more humane at some level.

As far as the rest of pieces are concerned, the plot was more engaging than the previous edition of Iron man series. The action was definitely intense. There was no dearth of breath taking sequences that kept one glued to the seat. This installment definitely did not perform as well as the first one in terms of wit quotient. But did not disappoint a single bit on the style. As you can expect from an Iron man movie, this one had its own share of gadgets and innovative techniques. Though there were some parts where things do seem to go over the board but it was always expected from this franchisee. Overall, Iron man 3 was an enjoyable experience. If you keep your expectations right, you will definitely have a great time watching this piece of cinema. I will go with 7.5/10 for this one.

Kai Po Che - Engrossing, Intense and worthy

When I last wrote on this blog, I made no attempt to hide my disdain for a Bollywood flick. I did so because I knew that it was a disgrace to movie viewer community, an attempt to insult their intelligence and a piece of poor than average cinema. I felt good after giving it what it deserved. But I know that I will feel even better when I am done writing this. Because I am going to write about something good today, something genuine, something that raises the bar and something that deserves the accolade and all the attention that it is getting. Today, I am going to write about “Kai Po Che”, an intense and worthy movie.

Kai Po Che (KPC), based on a novel by Mr. Chetan Bhagat (3 mistakes of my life), is a story of three young individuals belonging to middle class India in the city of Ahmedabad. Saying that they are good friends would be an understatement. They are aspirational in their own ways and their life stories can resonate very easily with an average Indian. But if you think that the story is just about friendship or you are going to see another Dil Chahta hai or 3 Idiots, then you are in for a surprise. Though it strongly depicts and weaves itself around theme of friendship, but KPC is much more than that. It is an intense movie which intricately blends friendship, love, religious politics, passion, entrepreneurial spirit, cricket in a way that any Indian can easily connect with. And in the last part lies the beauty and the power of the movie. It is a movie about India, the real one where all the drapes that cloud our vision were ripped apart. And all that stood in front of the viewers were aspirations, values, problems and passion that define India.

Talking about specifics, I am more than convinced that director Mr. Abhishek Kapoor has pulled off something special here. His directorial debut went well with ‘Rock On’ and with KPC, he has raised the bar. He has been able to capture the psychology of Indian youth and deliver it in simple cinematic language that can be easily comprehended by the viewer. Also, KPC is characterized by such an engrossing screenplay that not even once during the movie, I felt the need to have a look at my watch. As far as acting is concerned, most of the cast has done justice to the roles. All the three protagonists were able to get underneath the skin of their characters which helped them put up a great show. But If I have to choose only one actor out of three, then I will go with Mr. Raj Kumar Yadav who portrayed ‘Govind’, the character that works as a glue to hold the plot together. Lastly, it would be highly unfair to Mr. Amit Trivedi if I forget the background score. In essence, the screenplay also looks engrossing because of background score. It complements the screenplay unlike traditional Bollywood movies where it becomes more of a commercial activity instead of becoming a part of the screenplay. In nutshell, KPC has all the elements of a good watch because there is something for everybody, although I would have preferred a not-so-rushed ending.

If I felt obliged to save mortal souls from Race 2 last time, I feel an even stronger urge to recommend this piece of good cinema to every movie lover. Mr. Masand said that it’s only February and the best movie of the year seems to have arrived and I could not agree with him more. It’s a 4/5 for KPC.

Race 2 - Cheapness and trash combined & served cold !!

If you appreciate good cinema and art, you will remember “Race 2” for a long time. Not because it is one of those gem of movies that take your breath away and makes you wonder about things that you might have missed out in your busy life or it was a piece of thrilling cinematography that kept you on the edges of your seats. But because you got a new benchmark on how worse it can get and what all not to do if you really want to appreciate the art that a movie is.

I wonder from where I should start. I guess, the makers knew that they wanted a few action scenes in exotic locations, a couple of hot girls in outfits that reveal more than they hide, an item song, a fight sequence, some raunchy stuff, some stolen dialogues and a couple of window shattering shots. Apart from this, they had no idea what to do with these parts. They might have sat over a cup of coffee and decided to randomly put together these parts to make a movie. The result is a confusing piece of cinema that cannot be classified as any of action, thriller, suspense, drama, comedy or a “B-grade film”. It was such a job that they themselves would not have wanted to see it again. Needless to say that there wasn’t a script.

I wonder am I being too harsh and then I think about the movie again and all my doubts vanish in an instant. I cannot talk about the acting because there wasn’t any. Starting alphabetically, Amisha patel tried her best to look like a desperate young girl who wants to devour on (literally) her boss and in return, Anil Kapoor horrendously tried to be cool and funny at the same time. All the time, they both seemed like the extra baggage that the movie was carrying. Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez did not have to do much except flaunt their curvaceous figures in order to woo the audience. Their roles were a testimony to the fact that the days of real acting are probably behind us and what and how you speak is simply irrelevant. I will leave the rest of the main cast for the sake of avoiding repetition. With acting and scripting out the way, one would not expect much. But hang on, it is not over. We have to copy style and dialogues from other movies in order to look savaging and serious in action sequences. This is one thing where the makers have done really well. Why watch “Kill Bill” if you can get the same intensity of revenge in this movie and why watch other Hollywood action flicks if the amalgamation of their action can be served in one movie?? I would just watch Race 2 to amuse myself.

Life is all about taking events as experiences – good and bad. Well, Race 2 was also an experience. I am sure that you would get the gist of what kind of an experience it was. If you are a masochist and want to punish yourself for some of your wrongdoings, I highly recommend Race 2. You cannot get something more suitable. But I can assure you this is not a movie that I would recommend to the worst of my enemies as it would be a crime against humanity to do so.

Stanley Ka Dabba - A Must Watch

After a dismal batting performance from Indian Cricket Team, I required something immersing that could take my mind of cricket. Sure, there were a lot of movies and the toughest decision, as always, was to zero in on a good one. Without much of a thought, I went to the Hindi section and started 'Stanley Ka Dabba' (SKD). Little did I know that I would be moved and compelled to write this, for it takes an effort and some sheer class for a movie to get this lazy blogger out of his deep slumber. And, believe me, there was no dearth either the class or the concept when it came to SKD.

Set in a good English medium school of Mumbai, SKD is a story of a talented kid named Stanley, his friends having fat 'Dabbas' (Lunchboxes) and a teacher. The teacher, a villain of sorts, is infamous for not managing his own lunchbox and being dependent on fellow teachers and students (particularly the Stanley lunch box gang) for his lunch. On the other hand, this innocent kid Stanley is helped by his friends during lunch hours. Jealous of Stanley, our teacher somehow always manages a bitter tongue for him. Set against this basic backdrop, SKD manages to move beyond the realms of a simple student teacher tussle. As a viewer, you can always sense bigger issues simmering at the sidelines. You can always tell that there is something more to the script; that the stage is set for a larger show. Eventually, when the final scene unfolds, SKD has the power to move you. Even the so called tough guys will find it hard to avoid a surge of compelling emotions that run through the body and overflow from the eyes. There are a little or no emotive dialogues. But the lack of it does not fail to drive home the point. In fact, it adds value to the communication of the whole idea. It is said that the deepest of human emotions are perceived in silence. No wonder the audience is given the time to ponder over the issue our society so badly faces.

SKD depicts the ability of Indian Cinema to give a voice to prevailing societal issues in an effective manner. At the same time, SKD is not condemning or restrictive in nature. On one hand where it deals with a problem, it also goes a long way to personify human courage and compassion. Never once in the ninety minutes of run-time, SKD fails to emphasize the importance of human dignity and self respect. All of this is packed in a very simple, easily digestible and effective package that keeps the viewer engrossed. In parts, the movie is also about small-small events that make the school life memorable. The innocence of childhood, the desire to excel and to be accepted is captured beautifully. In fact, there are times when, as a viewer, you  are reminded of your school life and you feel the urge to go back to your school life and add a few feathers to the cap.

Overall, SKD is a powerful and compelling piece of Indian Cinema. It is a canvas where the soul of the art lies in the innocence and the colors are nothing the blacks and whites that define human existence. Undoubtedly, it is among the best movies that Bollywood has produced in recent times. In my list, it ranks with the likes of Udaan and Tare Zameen Par. A must watch !!

Inception

"Your mind is the scene of the crime".

Inception was one of those movies that I was desperately waiting for. Being a Christopher Nolan movie, it was highly anticipated and much hyped. Before going for the movie, my expectations were high and so were the apprehensions that come bundled with an over hyped movie. But Inception made to list of those rare cases where a movie delivers what is expected out of it or probably more.

(No Spoilers)

Right from the start Inception keeps you occupied. There is too much happening and you consistently try to solve the puzzle that it throws at you. A story unfolds within a story. By the time you figure out the first one, the second one is in the process of giving way to another one. The first of half the movie goes into building the framework and laying out a detailed description of the phenomenon that rules the movie. And the second half is too hot to handle. Just imagine yourself completely glued to the seat, constantly formulating answers to all that Inception had to offer. The second half is packed with all the ingredients that make Inception ever more special. There is enough action and special effects to make any Sci-Fi feel proud; enough thrill and surprise to keep your mind occupied and more than enough complexity to challenge you. Moreover, the emotional depth that the main protagonist has exhibited makes Inception stand apart from similar kind of movies. Barring a few scenes where the set up looks absurd, Inception does not offer even a single dull moment. Well, there is always a scope for improvement J

Anyways, let me come to the artistic side of the movie. The phenomenal blending of the background score makes the whole presentation very engaging. As usual, Christopher Nolan delights the viewer with his uncanny skill and imagination in storytelling and direction. Leonardo DiCaprio, once again, has proved his ability to understand the intricacies of the situation and to devote himself to the character he is playing. Michael Caine, though plays a small role but, is as composed as the Alfred in The Dark Knight. Ellen Page charms like the smell of the fresh air with her little assignment. Joseph Gordon-Levitt rises much above his role of a confused and grieved lover in ‘500 days of Summer’. Overall, the cast delivers all that is expected from a Nolan movie.

After watching the movie, I wanted to know what Mr. Masand had to say about Inception. In a nutshell, he described Inception as a movie that challenges its audience and expects them to dive in for a mind boggling ride. And I just couldn't agree more. I hate to say this but I do feel that you need to watch this movie twice to understand all the subtle things that make it really special. It might remind you of Memento and Matrix, but it goes into an even deeper and more swirling matrix. If you want to see a movie that is simple and unsophisticated action, then please don’t watch Inception. You will come out of the hall with a frustrated and tired mind. But if you have the willingness to try something new & weird and you are bored of the mundane movies that have nothing to offer except archaic concept of love, then Inception is made for you. Go and judge it for yourself. You may or may not like it, but you will have an experience of different cinema and that is the USP of the Inception.

I will go with 8.5 of 10 for Inception.

The Butterfly Effect & The Chaos Theory

Hi blog,

"The Butterfly Effect" - Yeah, it was the movie shown by Thapar Movie Club today. The movie was totally confusing one and the voice system of C-Hall added with a bad print of movie made the matters worse. But still, I understood the movie because of Kamal, guys discussing movie at end and Wikipedia (It rockz). And now after fully realizing the movie plot and concept, i feel like appreciating it. The concept was mind boggling.

Tagline of Movie: Change one thing, change everything.

The Butterfly Effect is a story of an extra ordinary boy which can go in his past black outs and change the course of events in those blackouts. And these changes further effect the outcome of his life. Whenever he changes an event, a new time line presents him with an entirely different life. He changes the events to suit the best life but end up in a life of some trouble or the other. And at last, he succeeds in striking a balance in life but he has to scarifice something he desires most. After that he destroys all the ways from which he can travel in past and accepts the life he has got in last time line.

Now let me come to The Chaos theory Part:

It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world - The Chaos Theory.

Actually, in a chaotic system the smallest variation in input can have an enormous impact on the output. And this is the most interested thing that is applied in the movie. The smallest change in a blackout event causes total life change of characters in movie putting them in different time lines. That goes to sure that sometime certain important event can change the course of life and it is something that one can take away from movie.

Apart from chaos theory, movie also gives a very simple lesson that one cant have everything in life and sometimes, we have to make certain decisions, certain sacrifices.

Overall, it was a good movie if you understand it (which takes time). But it could have been far better. Especially, the part dealing with revival of time lines.

My rating: 7.9/10
Imdb rating: 7.7/10

Bye blog.

PS:- It was another good day in placement scenario for Biotech as 4 more students were placed (in HCL). Our Gang is almost placed. I'm very happy for all of my friends which are placed and do hope that others will get placement soon. After all, Thapar has got some brand name in market...

Life in a........ Metro

Hi blog....

Another day goes and we are heading towards the 15th may.. Hmm.. Am i getting impatient ?? I dont know... Chal leave that.. let me tell you about today.. a day just like any other one.

I got up at 11:30 as usual... there was no electricity and according to the notice board of society it was to come at 5 pm.. what should i do for time pass ?? and then the idea came... a movie at Adlabs in galleria mall.. Cool.. so i got ready by 12:15 and was off to galleria.. I was thinking about watching Tara rum pum but got the tickets for Metro.. The show was at 2:30 pm.. I had an hour or so to explore the mall.. the mall was good but Center one was better. The best place in the mall was 'Odyssy - The leisure place'. It had books, greating cards, toys for kids, perfumes and music shop. It was cool to spent half an hour there. And then at 2:15, i entered the hall... so let the movie take over the post...

Movie review

My first thought about the movie was that it will be realistic and practical movie but i was proved wrong. There is no doubt that the movie was realistic at times but then suddenly it went too far fetched to contend with.
Theme of the movie said "countless emotions". Its true to some point. Movie shows it all.. passion, lust, a greed to succeed and love. It was a bold movie. At a moment, it reminded me of page 3 but page 3 was class apart. This one cant match page 3.

But there were certain things that appealed me most in the movie. Movie clearly showed the hollowness of the character in certain group of people which do nothing but use others for their benefit. Also, the path followed by some to realize their dreams, which ultimately compelled them to sacrifice on their integrity. A virtue which is constantly going down in todays hollow but shiny society. Apart from that movie showed some emotionally weak characters, tangled love lines bla bla bla..

And, as far as acting is concerned, i think it was good.. you can always expect Kokana sen sharma and Irfan khan to do a good job in these sort of roles. KK and Shilpa also did a good job and kangana ranaut looked good too..

And talking about the music, well it was rock dominated totally. A rock band performs in all the song (i dont know the name). Initially it looks good but after some it starts to give a headache. The best song was "In dino".

Final Verdict: A good movie for a one time watch watch.. Something appealing (At times)... But its not a ground breaking cinema by any means.
My rating: 2.8/5
Imdb: Not there yet.

After the movie, i went to center one and wandered there for an hour so. Then back to home. Back to Orkutting, Chatting and blogging...

Bye blog.

A rocking Day with Spiderman - 3

Hi blog..

Today was an eventful and Successful day.. Bhot aish kitti... Day started a bit boring but soon it was filled with fun and excitement. Actually it was 'The Monitoring Day'.. Our dear prof SS was coming for monitoring.. So me and AP went to Nerul Plant of our company (Elder Pharma) where SS was expected to come. We reached Company at 10 and were hoping that we were not late.. ans we were not.. On the contrary, SS came near 1:00 and we have to wait for over 2 hours. Our cool company coordinator left us with SS in his cabin. And from that moment onwards the day started to change.. First we all said "Good morning" in a formal way and then something followed which neither me or AP was expecting or hoping for... Dear, SS started talking a bit friendly with us.. asked about all project things, Mumbai, changes in our lives bla bla bla.. there were one or two awkward moments which could have turned nasty but all in all it went well.. So we were free by 2:10 and left the company..

Our total planning was to go home straight forward but another unexpected plan was on the way.. we boarded a bus to Vashi baazar as usual (hoping to get an auto from there towards home).. But my mood changed in between.. i was dying to see Spiderman-3 and moreover Mridul said it was great.. So I told AP to get off at Vashi depot and go to Fame Adlabs for watching Spidy-3.. AP agreed.. So we left the bus at Depot... We hired an auto from depot to Galleria mall where there are 4 screens of fame Adlabs...
there were 8 shows of Spidy-3 in a day at Adlabs.. and shocking thing was all were already filled...

I was a bit disappointed to say the least but then i thought about going to another Cinema Nearby Meghdoot or Meghraj.. And See how the luck smiles on us.. We got the tickets for 3:30 show of the movie....

Now movie review...... well, it was a good movie.. no second thoughts about that.. Special effects were as good as its earlier parts or may be better.. Story line could have been improved a bit... there were too many villains to accommodate in one movie.. Movie was a bit more romantic then Spidy 1,2... But overall, it is a very good movie for a Spidy fan... Must see .. especially for special effects..
My Rating: 8.3/10
Imdb rating: 7.9/10....

After the movie, AP went home straight way because he was feeling giddy... and i went to Centre One mall.. I spent more than an hour or so in mall.. It was just great.. Crowd was good too... On the way back to home, i had my small dinner..
Overall it was a rocking day...

PS:- Spiderman-3 was the seventh (As far as i can remember) movie that i have seen in cinemas of Mumbai... Others were..
1. Guru (Excellent Movie)
2. Eklaya (Good acting, Weak Story.. Nice to see, nothing much to remember)
3. Ghost rider (Waste of money)
4. Black Friday (Super-Duper Movie... A must Watch)
5. Namaste Landon (Good Timepass movie.. Katrina looks Hot...)
6. Mr. Beans Holiday (Very good and Clean comedy.)
7. Spiderman-3 (Good movie.. excellent effects)
Saga will go on......

Bye blog.... :)

The Shawshank Redemption

FEAR CAN HOLD YOU PRISONER, HOPE CAN SET YOU FREE

Hi blog, Seen The Shawshank Redemption today again.. Seen it countless number of times and movie still delights me... Especially its dialogs... So I'm writing about it.... Actually i should have done it earlier because this movie deserved it. But better late than never.. Let me start..

The Shawshank Redemption is undoubtedly the best movie i have ever seen. Its a classic. Movie gives you hope. It engages you slowly and then delights you at end. The beauty of the movie lies in it being slow. Every scene, every character just fits into it amazingly.. Acting by every character in the movie is amazing.. The narration by Morgan freeman throughout the movie holds the viewer.. This movie has it all -- hope, patience, friendship, fun, misery and prison life.... And above all great dialogs.. Here goes some of my favorite ones...

Red: "Get Busy Living, or Get Busy dying.. Thats goddamn right."

Andy: "Remember red, Hope is a good thing, may be the best and no good thing ever dies..I'll be hoping that this letter find you and finds you well."

Red: "I hope to cross the border. I hope to see my friend. I hope the pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I HOPE"

Andy: "Yeah. The funny thing is - on the outside, I was an honest man, straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook."

Red: "Some birds are not meant to be caged... Their feathers are just too bright.. and when they fly away..the part of you which knows, it was a sin to lock them up rejoice..yet the place you live, is much more drab and empty after they are gone.."

Red: "That kid's long gone. This old man is all that's left. I gotta live with that. 'Rehabilitated?' That's just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your forms, Sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shit."

Red: "These walls are funny. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That's institutionalized."

Red: "In prison, a man will do anything to keep his mind occupied."

Andy: "There are places in this world that aren't made out of stone, and that there's something inside that they can't get to ,and that they can't touch. It's yours. ....Hope."

Red: "When they put you in that cell... and those bars slam home... that's when you know it's for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it."

Red: "Andy Dufresne - Who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side."

Brooks: "The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry."

Warden: "I believe in two things: discipline and the Bible. Here you'll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your ass belongs to me. Welcome to Shawshank."

Red: "... and for the briefest of moments -- every last man at Shawshank felt free."

Warden: "The man disappeared like a fart in the wind !"

Red: "Prison life consists of routine, and then more routine."

Warden & Andy: "Salvation lies within"

Red: "Geology is the study of pressure and time. That's all it takes, really. Pressure and time."

Red: "Somethings are best left unsaid."

Well, there are endless dialogs in the movie which could have come here but i had to choose the best which was a very hard job, i must admit. At end i will just say "wonderful Movie"

PS: My rating: 10/10
Imdb rating: 9.1/10 (2nd best after Godfather)
